Fact-checking Presidential Aide on President Tinubu’s One Year Economy Scorecard

CLAIM: the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Social Media, Olusegun Dada with the X username, @DOlusegun posted an infographic showing how the president had improved Nigeria’s economy since inauguration in May 2023. 

VERDICT: The claims made by the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Social Media, Olusegun Dada on Tinubu’s scorecard with the economy is PARTIALLY TRUE.

CLAIM: Trump Advises Tinubu To Reverse Fuel Subsidy, Abolish IMF and World Bank Policies

CLAIM: A video footage posted on TikTok  claims to show former US president and 2024 Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump advising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reverse fuel subsidy removal and other policies to benefit Nigerians.

VERDICT: The claim that Trump advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reapply fuel subsidy and forgo all IMF and World Bank policies is MISLEADING as findings show that the video is an Al-generated content.

CLAIM: X User Claims Nigeria Has Highest Inflation Rate Compared to European and African Countries

CLAIM: An X user posted the inflation rate of different countries on X mentioning including the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, United State of America and Nigeria with figures showing the inflation rate of each country.

VERDICT: Findings revealed that the figures posted by the X user for Germany, Italy, Gambia, Ghana, Canada, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda are TRUE while the ones for the other countries including Nigeria are MISLEADING.

CLAIM: Donald Trump Set to Visit Nigeria For Campaign, Begs Nigerians in USA For Vote

CLAIM: a TikTok user, social media influencer and critic , @real_verydarkman posted a video on his account page showing Donald Trump, former president of the United State of America and 2024 presidential candidate of the Republican party saying that he would visit Nigeria for campaign and also to beg for votes from Nigerians in the United States.

VERDICT: The claim is FALSE as NV-A findings reveal that the video posted has been manipulated with Deepfake tools.
