Did This Video Showing Security Operatives Breaking Into A Residence Happen In South East Nigeria?

A video of some security operatives trying to break into a residential building was posted on Facebook with the claim that it happened in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.

The 32 seconds video was Abraham Law on July 26, 2025 with the caption, “

We have created a culture of violent, opportunistic behaviour in the Southeast under the guise of combating insecurity. Any armed, hooded and untrained individual, accompanied by his mates who are probably drugged out can invade your home and carry out various acts of aggression, as evidenced in this undated video. There are no proper protocols in place

and human rights are not respected. When will this terror end? Imagine if there were children living in the house.”

When this report was published, the video had reached over 9,000 people.

VERIFICATION

NV-A conducted a reverse image search using screenshots from the video which led to the original video shared on  X, on July 25, 2025. In the X post, it was clarified that the incident occurred in Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, located in Southwest Nigeria.

The Police Complaint Response Unit, PCRU, of the Nigeria Police Force on its official X handle responded to the post, confirming that the incident happened in Ekiti, but denied being part of the operation.  Its statement said: “The Ekiti Police Command is not unaware of the video circulating on the social media where some armed security personnel were seen breaking into an apartment somewhere still unknown in Ado-Ekiti. It was alleged in the post that Operation Flush Unit, which is a Joint Task Force of some security agencies, was responsible for the act.”

“The Ekiti State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the Police is not part of the Operation Flush Unit as being alleged by a section of the public. The Police does not operate any unit called Operation Flush.”

The Commissioner of Police described the footage as showing armed persons breaking into an apartment and noted again that the police is not affiliated with any ‘Operation Flush’ unit. The police command has said it would launch a full investigation into the incident.

CONCLUSION

The claim that the incident in the video happened in the South Eastern part of Nigeria is MISLEADING. The original video shows that it happened in Ekiti state and this was further acknowledged by the state’s police command.
