Egypt And Turkey Set To Establish NATO-Style Force To Defend Gulf Countries
Kingsley Okon
On September 14, 2025, a newsblog on X @rkmtimes claimed that Egypt and Turkey is set to
establish a NATO-Style Joint Arab Force that will defend the Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC countries under attack and Egypt fully prepared to invade Israel if Tel Aviv bombs Egyptian soil. The post had an image of Arab countries leaders with the caption, “JUST IN 🇪🇬 🇶🇦 🇮🇱 Egypt and Turkey to establish a NATO-Style Joint Arab Force to defend GCC countries nation under attack. 🚨Egypt Fully prepare to invade #Israel if Tel Aviv bomb Egyptian soil”.
When this report was published, this claim had about 12,100 views and over 850 replies, reposts, quotes, likes and bookmarks.
VERIFICATION
To establish the origin of the image, N-VA analysed the image using Reverse Google Image Search, the results revealed the image was published as one of the photos from the 32nd Arab League Summit, held on May 19, 2023 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The photo credit states that it was provided to the media by the Saudi Press Agency, SPA.
The countries affiliated with GCC are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This list does not include Egypt and Turkey but Egypt and the other GCC nations are a part of the Arab League.
CLAIM 1: Egypt And Turkey Establish A Joint Arab Force
VERIFICATION
On September 14, 2025, several media reports confirmed that Egypt is reviving calls for a NATO-style Arab rapid-reaction force under the Arab League framework. The idea for the outfit is to create a collective defense mechanism that can respond quickly if any Arab country is attacked.
According to The Defense Post, the idea of joint force in the region was first proposed by Egypt in 2015 but was not successful.
However, there is no evidence of Egypt and Turkey jointly establishing such a force. The push has come mainly from Cairo, and Turkey has not been officially named in any media reports regarding the Arab-focused NATO-style force.
VERDICT
The claim that Egypt and Turkey plan to establish a joint regional force like NATO is MISLEADING. This proposal was revived by Egypt and is not a joint proposal.
CLAIM 2: Egypt Plans To Invade Israel If Tel Aviv Bombs Egyptian Soil
VERIFICATION
There is no report to confirm that Egypt is fully prepared to invade Israel. However, a Middle East Eye report highlights warnings of retaliation, not an official military plan to invade.
Egyptian officials and media have warned that any Israeli attack on Egyptian territory, including alleged assassination attempts on Egyptian soil, would be treated as a violation of sovereignty and could be considered a declaration of war.
VERDICT
The claim that Egypt plans to invade Israel if Tel Aviv bombs Egyptian soil is MISLEADING. Egypt has warned that it would respond to any Israeli attack on its territory and treat such actions as violations of sovereignty, but there is no credible evidence that Egypt has officially announced or prepared a military invasion of Israel.
CONCLUSION
The claims that Egypt–Turkey established a Joint Arab force and Egypt plans to invade Israel if Tel Aviv bombs Egyptian soil are MISLEADING. While Egypt has indeed revived calls for a NATO-style Arab defence force, there is no evidence that this is a joint effort with Turkey. Similarly, while Egyptian officials have warned that any Israeli attack on Egyptian soil would be treated as a violation of sovereignty, there is no proof that Egypt is prepared to invade Israel.
