Did President Tinubu appoint Femi Fani-Kayode as Minister and Reno Omokri as CBN Governor?

On October 23, 2024, an X user, @Uptownoflagos claimed that President Bola Tinubu appointed former minister, Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK) as the Minister of Finance and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The X user posted a side by side picture of Fani-Kayode and Omokri with the caption:
“BREAKING: Tinubu appoints FFK and @renoomokri ministers of Finance and CBN Governor respectively. 🔥🔥”

A look through the comment section of the post which has generated over 100,000 views as of the time this report was published revealed that it was made as a form of sarcasm. However, it is significant to verify the information as the claim has made it to Facebook and considering that President Tinubu announced a cabinet reshuffle on October 23, 2024.

VERIFICATION
Femi Fani-Kayode is a prominent Nigerian politician and lawyer who has served as the Minister of Culture and Tourism and as the Minister of Aviation in Nigeria under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and is now a card carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Meanwhile, Reno Omokri is a Nigerian author, lawyer, and political activist who served as special assistant on new media and communication to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

President Bola Tinubu announced a cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. This was widely reported by news platforms such as The Punch, The Guardian, Tribune Online, The Nation, Peoples Daily Nigeria, etc.

According to multiple reports, the president approved the re-assignment of 10 ministers to new portfolios, discharged five others and nominated seven new ministerial appointees.

The seven new ministers, pending their confirmation by the Senate, are Dr Jumoke Oduwole (Ogun State) as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Dr Nentawe Yilwatda (Plateau) as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Dingyadi (Sokoto) as Minister of Labour & Employment; Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Imo) as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Idi Maiha (Kaduna) as Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Ata (Kano) as Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development and Dr Suwaiba Ahmad (Kano) as Minister of State for Education.

The incoming Dr Jumoke Oduwole joins Wale Edun (Minister of Finance), Dr Adekunle Salako, the new Minister of State for Health, who was previously Minister of State, Environment and Bosun Tijani (Minister of Communications and Digital Economy) as ministers of Ogun extraction.

Neither Femi Fani-Kayode nor Reno Omokri are listed among the newly appointed ministers.

CONCLUSION;
The claim that Femi Fani-Kayode and Reno Omokri have been appointed as ministers of the federal republic of Nigeria by President Tinubu is FALSE.
