Woman Harassed On London Bus For Eating During Ramadan

A post on X claims that a woman was harassed by a man in London for eating inside the bus while he was observing his Ramadan fast. The claim was made in a video posted by verified newsblog, Instablog9ja on March 2, 2025, with a caption saying: “Man harasses a woman on a London bus for eating her lunch because he is ‘fasting’ during Ramadan.”
Instablog is reputable for its viral content and the post has reached over 830,000 peole. In the comment section, @_oroshiakose said, “Who cares if you’re fasting or not? I think that’s disrespectful” while @seniajibade wrote “I Will never understand why I would ask my Neighbour to stop driving his car because I want to trek to work😭😭”.
VERIFICATION
In the circulating 60 seconds footage, a man can be heard complaining about the smell of the food the woman was consuming while on the bus and he said, ‘Excuse me, I can smell that, do you mind eating that somewhere else..I’m fasting.’
The woman responded that she was simply having her lunch and saw no reason to stop. This exchange led to a heated discussion between the two.
A reverse image search shows that the video was also shared by other X users, found here, here and here.
The video has sparked discussion online, with many users criticising the man’s actions as unreasonable and emphasising that fasting is a personal commitment that should not impose restrictions on others. Some noted that such behaviour is not representative of the broader Muslim community, highlighting that many Muslims do not expect others to modify their behavior during Ramadan.
A screenshot from the footage put through Google reverse image search revealed that this video is not a recent one, as it was first uploaded online in March 2024 and this can be seen here, here, here, and here. It is important to note that while the confrontation was intense, there was no physical attack reported in this incident.
CONCLUSION
The claim that a woman was recently harassed by a man in London for eating inside a bus because he was fasting is verified but the circulating video is NOT RECENT and dates back to March 28, 2024.
