Was Sectarian Group, Biafra Invited to an International Humanitarian Law Conference?
There is footage with an accompanying claim that the combatant commanders of the sectarian group, United States of Biafra and its cabinet members participated in an event tagged, International Humanitarian Law.
On March 7, 2025, @OCCPriceless made the post on X with the footage and a picture of what looks like an army troop. The caption reads: “Breaking; The United States of Biafra Combatant Commanders and some Cabinets at the ongoing International Humanitarian Law (IHL) which teaches people about the rules of war and how to apply them. @ICRC_Africa @ICRC @IntlCrimCourt @KarimKhanQC @USBGovernment @windstorm111 Dr. Ngozi Orabueze Deputy Prime Minister United States of Biafra http://usbgov.org http://dsusbgov.org”.
In the comment section, @ShugaMolla replied “We move with speed”, while @1Mouthpiece09_1 wrote “Must be Adhered 💯 Thank, your Excellencies PM Mazi Simon Ekpa, DPM Dr Ngozi Orabueze @windstorm111 and @USBGovernment. Thank you all wonderful Biafrans 🙌”.
VERIFICATION
A Google reverse image search of a screenshot from the video revealed that the video is not connected to the International Humanitarian Law. The footage was taken when an International Criminal Court, ICC, prosecutor Karim Khan, arrived in DR Congo on February 25, 2025. Khan arrived in the country amid the upsurge in fighting in the eastern part of DR Congo by the M23 rebels. Meanwhile, the image of the soldiers attached, was that of Biafra liberation forces uploaded on X on February 11, 2024 by the Defense Headquarters of the Biafra Liberation Forces.

The IHL Conference is typically attended by a diverse group of participants.

In 2025, several conferences focusing on International Humanitarian Law, IHL, are scheduled across various locations.On February 6, 2025, an international conference on IHL and the fundamentals of security in armed conflict was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. This event was organised by the Kyiv Institute of the National Guard of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Between February 25-27, 2025, the United States Space Command, USSPACECOM, and the United States Air Force Academy Department of Law also co-hosted the fifth annual USSPACECOM Legal Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. This three-day hybrid event was held at Polaris Hall on the United States Air Force Academy campus. These might have been the closest of such conferences due to the date the claim was posted. Though, the actual name and location for the said conference was not revealed in the post.
However, IHL or conferences about them does not invite militia groups like the Biafra liberation forces, but it does recognise their existence and sets rules for their conduct in armed conflicts.
CONCLUSION
The claim that The Biafra Combatant Commanders and Cabinet Members of Biafra participated in the International Humanitarian Law conference is MISLEADING. The IHL does not invite militia groups to its conferences and the attached footage is from February 2025 when Karim Khan, a prosecutor from the International Criminal Court, ICC visited DR Congo.
