Claim: Boko Haram Warns Trump Against Invading Nigeria
On November 3, 2025, an X user @rkmtimes made a claim that Boko Haram has issued a warning to former U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that it would be the “biggest mistake” for the U.S. to enter Nigeria, and further alleges that Boko Haram “confirmed” a U.S. plan to occupy Nigeria’s natural resources under the guise of defending Christians. The post had an image of the insurgent group with guns and armoured tanks with a caption “JUST IN🇳🇬❌🇺🇲🔥 Boko Haram warns Trump, it will be biggest mistake of US if they enter Nigeria, where our natural resources, Defense and people are safe under Nigerian Govt. 🚨Boko Haram confirms, US plan to occupy Nigerian resources instead of defending ‘False Flag' Christians..”
When this report was published, this claim had about 20,000 views and over 1,080 replies, reposts, quotes, likes and bookmarks. In the comment section, @coopermatthew76 said “I doubt US boots will touch the ground. Probably drone strikes 24/7. Sleep well Boko Hara.” and @KaroBlvk wrote “Boko Haram don't have natural resources…”
VERIFICATION
President Donald Trump had in a statement said that he has ordered the Department of War to prepare for potential strikes in Nigeria, over its alleged failure to stop the persecution of Christians. Trump’s threat came after he designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern, a formal U.S. declaration of countries it says are failing to act over religious freedom violations.
In response to this threat, spokesman to Nigeria’s president, Daniel Bwala said the U.S. cannot unilaterally carry out any military operation in Nigeria over its claims of Christian persecution. He reiterated that the military threat from Donald Trump is based on misleading reports and appears to be part of “Trump’s style of going forceful in order to force a sit-down and have a conversation.”
While there have been heated online discussions about U.S. interest in intervening in Nigeria over alleged religious persecution, there are no reports that have been linked to any verified response from Boko Haram. The militant group typically releases its messages through video broadcasts, or propaganda outlets monitored by security analysts, none of which have carried any recent message directed at Donald Trump or the United States.
CONCLUSION
The claim that Boko Haram warned Donald Trump and confirmed a U.S. plan to occupy Nigeria’s resources is FALSE. There is no credible video evidence or reports that Boko Haram issued any warning to the U.S. President Donald Trump.
