CLAIM: One US Dollar Exchange For 750 Naira

On April 1, 2025, a TikTok user @onlinebanker posted a 13 seconds video claiming that one US dollar now equals 750 naira in the foreign exchange market.

As of the time this report was published, the post had gained over 340,400 views on the platform with many people in the comment section expressing doubt about the accuracy of the rate.

VERIFICATION 

To verify the validity of this claim, NV-A conducted a related keyword search and a data collection from various finance exchange websites.

Our search results came back with data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN showing the accurate timeline and fluctuations in dollar/naira exchange rate. The data showed that for the past few days the exchange rate has maintained a position between 1,650 to 1,450 naira, the most recent average rate was on March 28, 2025 and it was calculated to 1,538.2600 naira.

We also used data from finance exchange websites like Western Union and Wise to further investigate and found that the exchange rate from them also matches the data from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

CONCLUSION

The claim that the exchange rate between dollars and naira has reduced significantly to 750 naira is FALSE. The reports and updates from the CBN and commercial banks remain at 1,000 naira and above.
