CLAIM: Nnamdi Kanu’s Son Crowned The Best Student In Mathematics And Science in The U.S.
There is a circulating claim that Nnamdi Kanu’s son was crowned as the Best Student in Mathematics & Science in Georgia, USA.
The post on Facebook in the group, COAL CITY BALLERS on March 14, 2025, has the caption “Nnamdi Kanu’s son has been crowned Best Student in Mathematics & Science in Georgia, USA, after outshining competitors from nearly 30 countries, including China and England! His outstanding IQ played a key role in his victory, and despite the rigorous, highly monitored exam conditions, he displayed remarkable integrity, answering every question correctly,
Kudos to you dear son, you are really your father’s son.”

VERIFICATION
Google reverse image search reveals that the image has been on the internet since 2023 and the young boy is not the son of the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The boy in the picture is identified as Syarie Ware and the picture was taken during the Yes I Can! Award organised by the Paulding County School District, to celebrate its exceptional elementary, middle, and high school students, held at Hiram High School on May 1st and 2nd, 2023 in Georgia, USA.
The wife of Nnamdi Kanu, Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, has addressed the purported image of her son. She clarified that the boy featured in the circulating post is not Nnamdi Kanu’s son and emphasised that similar false reports had surfaced years earlier.. In a post on her verified social media account, she stated: “I wish this brilliant boy or brilliant boys and their parents well. To be mentioned alongside a great man like Onyendu Mazi #NnamdiKanu is a rare privilege. They are indeed blessed. This hoax trended 2 or 3 years ago if I am not mistaken.”
Given this clarification from Mrs. Kanu, it is evident that the reports of Nnamdi Kanu’s son receiving such an award are unfounded.
CONCLUSION
The claim that detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu’s son was crowned best student in mathematics and science in Georgia, USA, is FALSE as the boy in the picture is Syarie Ware. Nnamdi Kanu’s wife has also publicly debunked the claim.
