The claim, which had an image of Peter Obi and the slain officer, Aminu Sahabi Salisu, was posted on January 21, 2025 with the caption, “Breaking News: Jumping over a fence in the middle of the night is criminal behavior. I would have done the same. Peter Obi finally comments: “You cannot jump into someone’s home late at night and go free without prior notice. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed the death of Assistant Superintendent Aminu Sahabi Salisu which happened during a raid in Anambra State and vowed to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Also, the Former Special Assistant on Digital Communication to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmed criticised Obi on his verified X page saying, “I expected Peter Obi to surprise us by extending his condolences to the EFCC and the family of Aminu Sahabi, who was brutally murdered, while carrying out his official duties, by a suspected internet fraudster, Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu. I had assumed he would have strongly condemned the brutal killing, especially since the incident occurred in his state, Anambra.”
