Is The Viral Video of Haruki And Amiko’s Performance At America’s Got Talent Real?

A TikTok user who goes by the handle, Jeff Li, posted a video featuring two elderly individuals, identified as Haruki and Amiko, performing a violin and piano duet on America’s Got Talent, with Haruki claiming in the video that they both got separated for 69 years after an atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima.

This five-minute video was posted on April 23, 2025, with this caption on the video, “When they were 18 years old, they often practiced piano together at school. They were badly injured by the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and thought each other was dead. Unexpectedly 70 years later, they found out by chance that they were still alive. At the age of 98, they play this music together, which they played together when they were young. Piano and violin express their love for each other. Really touching! The judges and the audience cried throughout the performance!!”

When this report was published, this post had gained over 9.6 million views, about 486,300 likes, over 8,760 comments, about 60,000 bookmarks and over 62,800 shares.

VERIFICATION

To verify the authenticity of the video, NV-A performed a keyword search like “Haruki Amiko atomic bomb Hiroshima AGT,” but all variations of this keyword showed repost videos only. Also, the fact-checker captured key frames from the video and conducted reverse image searches using Google but the results showed repost videos as well.

Further searches on America’s Got Talent’s official YouTube channel and website for any matching performance or references to individuals named “Haruki” and “Amiko” came back negative, with no evidence found to support the existence of such a video or performers on the show.

What Major Inconsistencies Were Observed In The Video?

The judges in various parts of the video were seen wearing different outfits, mostly Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell indicating that the clips were taken from separate episodes or events. Also, the crowd behind the judges kept changing in the clip as seen below.

Additionally, unlike official America’s Got Talent videos, this particular clip lacks the show’s watermark or logo, raising further doubts about its authenticity.

NV-A also took an additional step to look into the term “the sun fell from the sky.” And upon review, we found that this is a metaphorical expression used to describe catastrophic occurrences in Japan during World War II. When an atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima.

CONCLUSION

The video is MISLEADING as it contains fabricated content designed to evoke emotion rather than report a true occurrence. Also there are no official records, media coverage, or visual proof linking the video to any real America Got Talents episode or any existence of the performers Haruki and Amiko, on America’s Got Talent.
